Caring for Your Smile After invisalign Treatment

The perfect smile! That formerly elusive beauty symbol is not difficult to achieve and with treatments like invisalign you can undergo the treatment with almost no one recognizing it. As you know with the invisalign aligner tray you have managed to correct your teeth with regular wearing and cleaning. What should be done further to keep intact that beautiful smile? Go through the following tips to keep smiling beautifully.

Even after having worn the invisaligner tray regularly, many patients require a retainer at least for some period of time. This of course differs from patient to patient and if a retainer is deemed necessary by your expert doctor, ensure that you wear them as religiously as you wore the invisaligner trays. Once you don’t have the invisaligner tray to hold your teeth in place, they may move out of place and the retainers help keep the teeth in place. Avoiding hard and crunchy food is important at least in the first few weeks so that undue pressure is not put on the teeth. In patients who are younger, retainers might have to be worn till the wisdom teeth appear.

As always, whether you are on dental treatment or not, it is important to take good care of your teeth. Brush them regularly and also floss so that plaque does not build up in the gaps. If this is not done the plaque build-up will become tartar or calculus. This can lead to gingivitis and gum problems. After orthodontic work is complete gums may become more sensitive for a couple of weeks. Rinsing your mouth with warm salt water may give you some relief.

Teeth can also feel sensitive immediately after invisalign treatment as the trays also have a protective function. Since they no longer cover the teeth, your teeth may feel sensitive and it is a good idea to use sensitive toothpaste during this period. If the teeth are stained, you can even use a professional whitening treatment.

Invisalign treatment may have given you a great smile but it is really up to you how to keep the smile that way. Many people who have once achieved their dental goal, rarely look back on further care but remember that it is only constant care that can help your teeth and your smile stay healthy for life. Oral care is a commitment that has to be taken seriously. For more help or tips do feel free to contact our experts at Dentzz dental to keep your beautiful smile everlasting.
