Teeth almost have a mind of their own. They often grow in our mouth in
whichever directions they please. Now to curb the direction of the growth of
teeth, dentists advise people to get braces. However, having a metal framework
fit into your mouth can sometimes exceed your pain tolerance levels.
The simplest thing you can try at home is a warm salt water rinse. Just
mix a tablespoon of salt into a glass of warm water and rinse your mouth out.
The warmth of the water leaves alleviates some of the pain and the salt helps
your wounds heal faster.
Another easy and enjoyable thing you can try out is giving yourself
plenty of cold treats. Ice creams and ice lollies provide a soothing effect for
your aching gums.
Liberally use the orthodontist wax that your doctor gives you. The
constant rubbing of your braces against the sensitive skin in your mouth is
what causes the pain. The wax coats the wires and brackets on your teeth
minimising the friction.
Give yourself a good gum massage. To do this you can first rub your gums
with a cube of ice to lessen the inflammation and the use a finger to gently
massage your aching gums. This will increase the flow of blood into your gums
and will not just relieve the pain but hasten the healing.
Brace yourself against the pain and chew more. The more you chew, the
more the blood flows towards the supporting structures of your teeth. This
helps in reducing the sores and lesions in your mouth and the discomfort that
comes with it. You should, however, take
care to chew on soft food and also food that does not contain too much sugar.
Remember that the pain is temporary. If you can endure that then you will
gain a more beautiful smile. Try these home remedies and for a dazzling smile
